Halloween Track #5: Mannheim Steamroller - Creatures Of The Night

"Creatures coming for you"

This mostly instrumental tune cracks me up. The sound effects and vocals are just hilarious, especially the "coming for you...ha...ah" part. This is definitely a classic only-play-it-during-Halloween type of track. It's exceedingly cheesy, and only gets more so when you watch the unbelievable music video. This is what it's all about, people.

Halloween Track #4: Dangerous Muse - Everyday Is Halloween (Josh Harris Remix)

"I dress this way just to keep them at bay"

I posted a version of this song last year, and about the same time I did, Dangerous Muse released a version of their own. This is a remix of that version, and a great track to have on the playlist for a Halloween dance party. This is a full-on, over seven minute, club remix of the track, so if you're looking for the original you're going to have to get it on itunes. Speaking of Dangerous Muse, it's about time we had an album from them, right?

Halloween Track #3: Pseudo Echo - His Eyes

"There's a man with no life in his eyes"

I posted a great track from Australia's Pseudo Echo a few days ago, and now I'm back with a Halloween-themed one. His Eyes is actually from a Friday the 13th movie soundtrack, so it's perfect for this month. The synth-led opening is especially eerie. The rest is pretty standard 80's synthpop with a lot of spooky strings. Really great song, though, whether it's October or not.

Halloween Track #2: Oingo Boingo - Dead Man's Party

"Leave your body and soul at the door"

Oingo Boingo's one of those bands that I really love, yet haven't paid as much attention to as I should. I know them best as the creators of the cult classic movie musical Forbidden Zone (check it out if you're in the mood for a weird movie), but they've got a lot of great 80's music that has nothing to do with that film. Dead Man's Party is rightfully considered a fantastic Halloween song. The lyrics describe the perfect Halloween party and the music, while not exactly spooky, is sure to get people dancing.

Halloween Track #1: Apocalypse Hoboken - Sweet Transvestite

"I'm just a sweet transvestite from transexual Transylvania"

Alienhits is going Halloween for the next ten days, starting with a great cover version of one of my favorite RHPS songs. Taken from the Rocky Horror Punk Rock Show compilation, Sweet Transvesite's been given an edgy update without changing what made the original such a classic. It feels more like a new cast recording than a complete reimagining. I think it's interesting how you can hear some of the lyrics better in this version, though.
